NSW Youth Health Strategy and Roadmap
O'Connell Advisory led the development of the Future Health of Young People in NSW Strategy for NSW Health, providing a long-term roadmap to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for young people across the state.
The project had a strong focus on supporting equitable access, culturally safe and responsive service models and delivery and approaches that work for young people.
Models that work are holistic, developmentally appropriate, confidential, flexible, non-judgemental and easily accessible that can step up and down as young people’s needs and readiness evolves.
The project included
state wide qualitative review of health services for young people in NSW
evidence reviews
national policy review and analysis of previous and current policy
state wide stakeholder engagement and consultation with young people, service providers and government agencies
development of a monitoring and evaluation plan
visual roadmap charting the priority intiatives and reforms.
The final strategy identified opportunities to strengthen prevention, improve access to services, address emerging health challenges and support more coordinated care for young people.
The project also included implementation planning and development of monitoring and evaluation approaches to support delivery of the strategy over time.
